The Swiss Federal Railways chooses ELCA’s award-winning technology for ticket security
23 March 2009
Following comprehensive studies and a design, implementation and test phase lasting several months, SBB mobile tickets and the print@home tickets from the SBB Webshop will be equipped with ELCA’s SecuTix microstructure as a visual security feature.
The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS) chose the SecuTix technology to make the checking of their mobile phone and print@home tickets easier and more secure, and are now equipping tickets for business and private customers with a SecuTix microstructure. Ticket information is combined with image information using a patented process. The microstructure enables the validity of the ticket to be checked visually. This technology enables urban transport companies and international partners, for example, to visually check the validity of a ticket without control equipment. ELCA played a key role in the development of the SBB shop solution for mobile phones and the first mobile tickets with the microstructure were produced in February. In addition, the print@home tickets, which can be purchased online, will now also be equipped with this microstructure from 23 March.
ELCA’s SecuTix microstructure won the SwissTechnology Award at the beginning of the millennium, and has since been made ready for market on an ongoing basis. Today, it is well established nationally and internationally and is used by numerous public transport companies and cultural event and exhibition organisers for the visual security of their tickets. ELCA’s SecuTix solution range is being supplemented with complete sales, reservation, access control and customer relationship modules.
