ELCA with stable revenue in excess of CHF 71 million
ELCA closed 2009 with stable revenue in excess of CHF 71 million, the second highest result in the history of the company.
Following many years of continuous growth, 2009 was a year of consolidation for ELCA. In the context of a general market slowdown, pressure on prices and a business environment in which customers tended to postpone decisions on spending; ELCA achieved once more revenues in excess of CHF 71 million with a gross margin comparable to the previous year. As a privately held company ELCA was able to increase its long-term investments committing CHF 10 million to R&D while reporting a neutral EBITDA and a slight loss for the year. These investments in staff expertise and technological excellence will further increase its competitiveness in the long run.
During 2009, ELCA was able to win many new clients including both large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly with mandates in the fields of enterprise content management (ECM) and customer relationship management (CRM). Experience has shown that our extensive and diverse client base represents an extremely stable and solid business foundation. Further recognition of the quality, flexibility and innovation of ELCA’s services came from the SBB’s “best supplier in the IT project business” award, which ELCA won in 2009.
Looking ahead to 2010, CEO Daniel Gorostidi sees further positive developments: “We are seeing a reversal in the recent trend towards in-sourcing as companies are starting to rely on external partners once more. This is a promising development for us. In addition, our ongoing investment in R&D helps us to maintain a leading position as a provider of high quality services and innovative solutions. Companies looking for services like ours also tend to favour proximity and they prefer a long-term local partner who is available to carry out modifications and upgrades, even after a project is finished.”
