For the last 10 years, Switzerland tried to build an electronic ID based on the SuisseID hardware token. Nowadays, our politicians are creating and voting new laws in order to create a new digital electronic ID to identify and authenticate a person. The project intends to go live in 2020, at a larger scale and approved by Swiss Government.
ELCA is one of the major key player and is working on the architecture foundation to enable a robust and national electronic ID infrastructure.
This internship is a very interesting opportunity to analyze, propose and evaluate such E-ID architecture. In addition, the goal of the internship is to make a proof of concept applying the state of the art of cryptography and security.
Given the increase of accounts being hacked and misused, the laws also required the use of public key infrastructure and second factor authentication methods to secure our digital identity. Part of the internship will be to analyze them and setup working prototypes.
During the project, the candidate will study E-ID specification, the current architecture around OpenID Connect, FIDO standards and possibly blockchain.
What you will learn: You will be a junior security engineer, developing your skills in electronic identity and security by analyzing and validating the proposed E-ID architecture.
