Digital Health IoT Platform as a Service (Master Thesis / Internship)


Patients may need services from various healthcare providers (hospitals/clinics, doctors, dentists, radiologists, cardiologists, pharmacists, insurance, etc.). In this context many different electronic systems can be used, such as sensors, machines (Oximeter, ECG, …), information systems (hospitals, laboratories ERP), and different communication protocols and formats (FIHR, HL7, etc.). This context rises two challenges: interoperability of the systems and security of data ingested.

At ELCA we have built a prototype platform to address the interoperability challenges of the healthcare providers ecosystem and ingest medical data from different sources.  We now aim at making this platform multi-tenant and deploying it in a Swiss sovereign cloud infrastructure.

In this role

The objectives of this internship include:

  • Acquire know-how on our existing digital health IoT platform and expertise on the underlying technologies
  • Work closely with ELCA Cloud engineers to setup and automate infrastructure for the deployment of the platform
  • Define and implement KPI for the monitoring of the platform
  • Ensure Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of the platform
  • Enhance multi-tenancy capabilities of the platform

Development: Python, scripting (Ansible, Helm, …)

Interest for distributed systems and devops technologies (Docker, Openshift, Kubernetes)
