How do Infrastructure-as-Code tools fare during a project’s life? (Internship)

Apply

Every Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tool available today has the same promise: a reliable way to deploy your infrastructure from scratch that you can store in code. The competing frameworks however differ in how they handle change and collaboration on a living project.

After the first deployment is done, these tools must indeed follow the evolution of the project. Measuring the ability of a framework to adapt to these changes is a complex subject, mostly not addressed in simple tool comparison. The goal of the internship is to dig into this topic and come up with objective criteria for comparison.

In this internship, the student will therefore be working on real-life projects touching several topics, from data engineering to security, to compare the merits of different IaC tools in realistic conditions. In doing so, the student will get to learn a lot about cloud infrastructure concepts and get familiarized with the typical constraints of a customer project.

In this role

Draw an objective comparison between existing frameworks of IaC using qualitative and quantitative measurements to find the best tool for the job.
