(Internship) MongoDB as a main storage alternative to RDBMS

The NoSQL document database MongoDB has gained many features in its latest version 5.0. Nowadays it supports ACID transactions, full-text search, geospatial queries, analytical functions, SQL integration and a lot more.

MongoDB is promoted as a better alternative to traditional relational databases for modernization legacy projects and new projects alike. This internship will put these claims to the test. 

In this role

The objectives of this internship include:

  • Try and evaluate new MongoDB features.
  • Using a realworld application, implement a web backend with MongoDB as persistence.
  • Based on this experience identify key strengths and challenges of building an application with MongoDB, esp. in comparison to relational stores.

About your profile

  • Experience with databases
  • Experience with web application development
  • Experience with ObjectRelational Mappers (ORM) a plus
  • Experience with MongoDB not a prerequisite
