THE "IT Advisory Tool Chain" (Internship)

IT and Business Consulting projects usually require many years of consulting experience and the application of specific methods and the combination of different tools such as Balanced Scorecard, Goal-map, SWOT, PESTE etc.

While every consulting company uses proven methods, tools are usually only available as paper templates, which are then filled by the participants in workshops using “Post-it” and note pads. The conclusion and the traceability in case of bad handwriting or single keywords is often a nightmare and a sensitivity analysis - e.g. in case of a subsequent re-prioritization of the superordinate goals - is impossible. For these reasons, ELCA has developed an Excel-based program, the "IT Advisory Tool Chain".

It guides the consultants through the method and serves as a working tool in workshops. In addition, the tool has many diagrams and visualizations with which the interim results can be continuously validated and are suitable for management communications.

Starting from a superior business strategy, divisional strategy, IT strategy, or a marketing strategy... the strategic business goals are identified and prioritized with the management. Based on a SWOT analysis and the IT Advisory Canvas © current strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats are identified and evaluated. From this, the operational goals are derived and their significance in relation to the overall business goals is evaluated. Finally, the implementation projects and initiatives are defined, their interdependencies are determined, and a GANT chart is created. Daily rates per role can be stored and thus the costs of the projects and the required resources can be determined. These are further outcomes of the "IT Advisory Tool Chain".

Since the tool chain was created using Excel, maintenance is difficult, while at the same time the expansion possibilities are limited. For this purpose, the "IT Advisory Tool Chain" is to be converted into a SW program.
