SmartDataLakeBuilder open-source development (Internship)


Creating and maintaining complex data pipelines and data lakes is a challenge. Together with SBB/CFF we created the open-source product Smart Data Lake Builder (, an automation tool for building data lakes and data pipelines more efficiently. It’s based on state-of-the-art technologies such as Apache Hadoop/Spark and integrates with major public cloud providers (Azure, GCP, AWS) and analytics platforms (Snowflake, Databricks).

Help us further develop Smart Data Lake Builder during your internship and become an open-source contributor. There are many topics to work on, like UI and graph visualizations, a language server to enable code completion for the configuration file, new connectors and we’re also open for your suggestions – you have the choice!

In this role

Develop a new component for SmartDataLakeBuilder and gain open-source visibility.

About your profile

Experience with BigData tools (Hadoop, Spark) and general data processing. Knowhow in software engineering with Java/Scala and or Javascript/React.

If you choose to work on a language server, some basic knowhow about parsers and compilers is needed.
