In the last years, Switzerland tried to build an electronic ID (e-ID) infrastructure and the politicians proposed new laws in order to create a new digital electronic ID to identify and authenticate a person.  This year, the swiss people, through a referendum, will decide who will be in charge and how the digital identity concept will be put in place in Switzerland.

ELCA is one of the major swiss IT key players that has actively participated in the working groups that debated on the concept of swiss electronic identity. ELCA has also developed trustID, a full stack multi-factor authentication solution and Identity Provider (IdP).

This internship challenges the student to analyze the social aspects of an e-ID. What are the criteria to choose & use an e-ID? How can trust in digitalization be build? What is the social feeling when comparing the numerous social identities (accounts) we use nowadays in order to access to different services versus a single e-ID? 

In this role

The goal of the internship would be to study the swiss opinion regarding e-ID in order to propose what is required for a seamless adoption of the population of this concept.

 

OBJECTIVES

  • Study the existing e-ID architectures that exists over the world and how the population adopted it
  • Understand the swiss climate regarding e-ID 
  • Study and understand how trust can be built around e-ID
  • Study how the e-ID would be used by the citizens
  • Study what are the important factors of an e-ID concept s.t. it is accepted by the population
