Cybersecurity & Privacy at ELCA Zürich
How did you hear about ELCA?
A friend of mine told me about the position via XING. That’s how I learned about the various roles and realized the importance of ELCA in the Swiss Marketplace.
What is your role?
I work as a Cybersecurity & Privacy Expert for our customers, and where needed, I also support our internal IT Services in the development and implementation of ELCA’s security solutions. In the latter case I’m involved in complex projects where a 360-degree view of cybersecurity challenges and solutions is required. Currently, I’m supporting a Swiss private bank with several thousand employees in the design and implementation of new security services, as well as the establishment of a Security Operations Center (SOC).
What fascinates you about your job?
I am always working on something new. It’s a little bit like being a detective, always investigating and searching for potential weak spots, trying to be ahead of the cybercriminals, helping our customers protect their most valuable assets. At customers’ sites we also support and coach security architects on the design of secure solutions that meet the requirements of their business.
An interesting paradox: too much security can become an obstacle and be very cost- intensive. That’s why security must always be risk-oriented and deliver benefits to the customer. We look at cyber threats to physical access control all the way up to software solutions. I think we’re one of the few Swiss software developers with proprietary security solutions such as trustID that are developed, maintained and supported locally.
What do you especially like about ELCA?
I really enjoy the work at ELCA. I’ve never been an in environment where I’ve experienced such broad and deep knowledge and expertise before. What I also like very much is that as a cybersecurity expert I’m involved at a very early stage in customers’ projects. I’m part of the project team from acquisition meetings all the way up to the implementation at customers’ sites. This is fascinating for me and such involvement is highly appreciated by customers. Another plus is that we at ELCA strictly follow the Agile development and project management process, unlike a number of other security companies. This is a guarantee the customer gets a tailored solution he really needs.
