22.05.2023

A key player in the energy sector in the canton of Fribourg, Groupe E is a company with a long history of innovation in several fields (electricity production - hydro/NER, energy efficiency/optimization, installations, and value-added services) which is continually expanding its areas of activity and its offer throughout Western Switzerland.

The mobile application, designed by Groupe E, aims to increase its audience to a wider public by addressing the issues of sustainable development and energy optimization in the home.

A BtoC mobile application.

The BtoC mobile application, developed by ELCA for Groupe E, allows the user to compare the energy consumption of his home with other users. The application provides advice on how to optimize the energy balance. As the gateway to the Groupe E customer portal, the mobile application offers a wide range of content and features to facilitate customer engagement.

The Groupe E application is also a proximity contact channel for the public during fairs and counters. The application offers an interactive customer experience to visitors thanks to the contests offered directly in the application. Visitors can easily participate by downloading it, but also be informed of the status of Groupe E's electricity network via notifications.

The key factors of the application's success

Groupe E's objective is to create an audience around the public’s broad sensitive to the issues of sustainable development and energy optimization. To achieve this, Groupe E must offer an innovative digital experience, considering the best practices in terms of ergonomics and respecting the brand’s universe specific to Groupe E.

From a technological point of view, the solution proposed by the ELCA teams ensures integration with Groupe E systems to provide key functionalities in the application (e.g.: network status and support). Pragmatic, robust and scalable, the architecture implemented makes it possible to address the heterogeneous nature of the mobile world (multi-OS) while limiting development costs and future evolutions.

A cross-platform Flutter mobile application

The B2C mobile application is an application using the cross-platform Flutter frontend technology. Flutter was chosen for reasons of portability and performance. This technology also allowed us to rationalize costs and implementation time.

Why ELCA?

The experience and know-how of our teams in the implementation of mobile solutions made ELCA the partner of choice for the success of the mobile application. ELCA supported Groupe E in defining the specifications, designing, and developing the application using an agile and iterative approach known as MVP (Minimum Viable Product). Since the application went live, UX improvements and editorial content (e.g. information on river flows and lake levels) are underway.

  • Knowledge of the energy sector and a long-term collaboration with Groupe E.
  • A strong BtoC mobile experience: ELCA is a cornerstone to one  of the best rated banking applications (more than 100'000 users) on the Romandie stores.
  • Our agile and fluid project approach is based on the AGILE IT methodology. A core project team based in Lausanne and an extended team in our Off-Shore Center (Mauritius) guarantees the success, the quality of the project and the optimization of the development time.
