ELCA collaborates with Microsoft to Expand its Sovereign Cloud Options in Switzerland with Locally Operated Services Built on Microsoft Azure Local and Microsoft 365 Local.
Zurich and Pully, Switzerland - June 16, 2026 - ELCA announced today an expanded set of locally operated sovereign cloud services in Switzerland, built on Microsoft Azure Local and Microsoft 365, to help Swiss organizations strengthen data protection and business continuity while enabling secure adoption of AI. Through its collaboration with Microsoft, ELCA intends to offer anew and extended set of locally managed cloud services that help customers meet sovereignty, compliance, and business-continuity requirements while accelerating adoption of the Microsoft Sovereign Cloud portfolio and AI innovation.
Building on more than two decades as a Microsoft partner, recognized and trusted by Swiss companies and Public Sector organizations for their transformation journeys, ELCA plans to provide end-to-end sovereign and hybrid services for key Microsoft platform components, built on Azure Local and Microsoft 365 Local, with additional capabilities expected over time.
Through the collaboration, ELCA will help customers define and operationalize a digital sovereignty strategy from setting objectives and assessing exposure to implementing pragmatic governance, security, and lasting operating models. The approach combines proven resilience measures with Azure-based hybrid cloud options across sovereign public and private environments, helping customers meet regulatory requirements while using Microsoft best practices for Sovereign Landing Zones and compliance policies. The goal is to support strong, reliable continuity plans that remain actionable as regulatory, geopolitical, or operational conditions change.
“In a complex environment, customers must balance innovation with sovereignty and compliance. By deepening our relationship with Microsoft, we will strengthen and extend our offering by combining local hosting and delivery capabilities with cloud and AI technologies so organizations can move forward with confidence,” said Cédric Moret, CEO of ELCA. “ELCA has a long history of trust-based relationships with Swiss organizations, and it is close to our heart to support them in these critical moments. ELCA is committed to helping clients embed sovereignty across the transformation lifecycle, governing data, securing operations and meeting regulatory requirements without slowing progress.”
“Digital Sovereignty is now a mission critical consideration for organizations that want to realize the promise of cloud and AI while maintaining control over their data and operations,” said Catrin Hinkel, CEO, Microsoft Switzerland. “Our collaboration with ELCA is designed to provide tailored solutions across the breadth of the Microsoft Sovereign Cloud to customers in Switzerland operated by a trusted and independent Swiss IT service provider.”
ELCA intends to offer a new range of sovereign solutions, particularly for regulated sectors including financial services, public sector, healthcare, and critical infrastructure. Initial offerings include local extensions for existing Microsoft 365 customers and can extend to fully ELCA-hosted Microsoft productivity solutions built on Azure Local.
