The national foundation, with around 70 employees, brings together a wide variety of roles, functions, and language regions. While some AI applications were already in use, there was a lack of clear guidance and consistent day-to-day adoption. Together with ELCA Advisory, the organization therefore launched a structured, multi-month program rather than relying on a one-time training session.
The program was built on a clear principle: AI should not remain the domain of a few experts, but instead become a tool that all employees can use confidently and effectively in their daily work. The goal was for everyone to recognize the potential of AI, apply it in practice, and learn how to craft effective prompts.
Applying AI in Everyday Work
The program combined foundational knowledge with hands-on application. Through a series of webinars, employees learned key AI concepts and immediately applied them to real-world tasks, such as reviewing funding applications, summarizing documents, and creating workshop materials.
A central component of the initiative was the Prompt Clinic. In this interactive format, employees tested their own prompts, discussed the results together, and learned from one another’s experiences.
Building a Shared Understanding of AI Across the Organization
Shared Understanding of AI
Given the wide range of roles and experience levels across the organization, establishing a common understanding of AI was essential. Employees developed a shared AI vocabulary and learned which tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, are best suited for different tasks.
AI governance
The program also placed a strong emphasis on AI governance and the responsible, privacy-compliant use of AI. This included addressing risks related to data protection and copyright, creating a consistent approach that could be applied across all teams.
Sustainable Impact and Outlook
By the end of the program, employees felt confident using generative AI tools. Today, the organization benefits from a shared foundation of AI knowledge and a practical, principles-based approach to the sustainable adoption of AI.
“The training delivered what matters most to our employees: greater confidence in using AI and clear, practical value for their daily work.”

Head of Workplace Health Management / Member of the Executive Board, Promotion Santé Suisse
The example of Promotion Santé Suisse demonstrates an important lesson: the key question is not whether AI is used, but how it is introduced and integrated. Success comes from a structured, responsible, and practical approach; one that is embedded over time in real working environments and everyday situations.
